Traditional Handloom weaving is still practiced in a few Kandyan villages in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. This is a truly indigenous form of folk weaving using yarn that is created on a simple loom known as the 'Pit loom'. All handloom products are available in cities of Down South.
Colour combinations and patterns from the past combined with modern material and processing techniques have given handloom textile products from Sri Lanka its own identity all over the world, today. In the recent past, the quality of Sri Lankan handloom products has improved to the extent that it has been able to step into the highly competitive international market. |
